Replacement of 1N4728A 3.3 zener diode

  1. Use a series of 2.7V Zener with a normal rectifier diode (2.7+[0.6-0.7]=3.3-3.4V)
  2. Use 5 regular diodes in series. Voltage drop across each diode is .7 volts x5 = 3.5volts
  3. Use the 5.1 and take the output via 3 diodes forward biased. 0.6 volt drop per diode, you can slash 1.8 volt from the 5.1
